As outside counsel to RMAI, Donald Maurice was recently invited to testify before a joint hearing of the New York State Assembly Standing Committees on Corporations, Authorities and Commissions and Consumer Affairs and Protection on actions to combat robocalls, spoofing, and nuisance calls. In his testimony, Don cautioned the committee members that well-intentioned regulation designed to stop bad actors, if drafted too broadly, could also prohibit or substantially curtail the legitimate use of outbound telephone technologies by the business community. Don’s half hour testimony can be viewed below. RMAI encourages our members to watch Don’s testimony as it serves as an excellent primer on robocall issues.

RMAI was the only business and industry trade organization invited to provide testimony on the impact robocall legislation would have on commercial enterprises.
