From the medical field to accounting, Administrative Coordinator & Bookkeeper Laura Scheiber has finally found what she was looking for at RMAI.

Laura spent six years as a medical technician in the Air Force Reserve before her military contract ended and she went into banking.

She had experience working at a bank prior to joining the Air Force Reserve, and after finding out the medical field wasn’t her passion, she went back to what she knew.

“I really like detail work,” said Laura. “I like working with numbers.”

Laura worked at Golden 1 Credit Union in their ACH department handling deceased accounts and government reclamations before coming over to RMAI.

“I liked the fact that RMAI was a smaller organization with a lot of reach,” she said. “It seemed that I could have a bigger impact in my role with room to learn and grow.”

Laura’s job entails bookkeeping, handling transactions, invoicing, and vetting applications for the RMAI Receivables Management Certification Program.

She also handles the Legislative Fund Silent Auction for Executive Summit and Annual Conference.

Out of all her tasks, her favorite is when she gets to compile the information that comes from the various surveys RMAI sends out to members.

Laura said she loves using Excel and Word to make the results look professional and in an “easy to read” format.

She said she also enjoys working with Director of Certification & Education Shannon Parod on Certification and sending out approval emails and packages.

“I love when I get email responses from people that are excited and thankful about completing their Certification process,” said Laura.

In addition to helping others with their Certification process, Laura herself earned her Individual Certification (Certified Receivables Compliance Professional designation) after less than six months with RMAI.

“It has been such a pleasure having Laura on the RMAI team. She has gone above and beyond expectations in her short time here and is a great addition to our staff,” said Shannon.

Next, Laura is planning to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree from San Jose State University in Information Science and Data Analytics.

In her free time, she loves going on hikes with her friends.

Laura said she is also excited to attend the Annual Conference for her first-time next year.

“I interact with a lot of members on a day-to-day basis,” said Laura. “It is going to be great to meet everyone and talk to them in person.”
