RMAI just received word from the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) that they will extend the enforcement Grace Period on their new Foreign Language rule from August 26, 2020 to October 1, 2020. RMAI had requested such action earlier this week, given DCA’s delay in publishing the FAQs on the new rule and the foreign language translations on the DCA website. The FAQs, which were expected mid-July, were published yesterday. The foreign language translations of frequently used debt collection terms are expected to be published on the DCA website in the next several days.
RMAI has published several Member Alerts on the new rule and is presenting a webinar on Monday, August 10th.
