With a passion for customer connections only matched by her relentless work ethic, Nicole Canon, RMAI’s new Membership Marketing Coordinator, was a perfect fit for the association.
Nicole came to RMAI in March after looking for a career that would afford her more human interaction in a different capacity than she was used to.
“Nicole has immediately showed her capability on the RMAI team, and we are so happy to have her creativity and go-getter mindset,” said Shannon Parod-Tsui, Director of Certification & Administration.
Previously she worked for an insurance company over the phone in a fast-paced environment with no opportunity to really connect with people or build relationships. After that, she managed a tattoo and piercing shop where she also worked as a piercer.
As Membership Marketing Coordinator, Nicole’s primary goal is to serve members. She works on recruitment and retention, and on the Membership Committee, as well as the Legislative Fundraising Committee.
“I really strive to make current members feel appreciated for all they do for RMAI,” she said. “It has been great to meet the members and work intimately with them.”
One thing that Nicole likes about working at an association is the collaborative interactions she has with staff. “Getting to work where I have the space for human connection and where it is a priority is different than anywhere else I have worked,” she said. “I love that my whole day is centered around helping people, no matter how small the task.”
In her free time, Nicole likes to bird watch, do arts and crafts like felting, and spend time with her 6-year-old Golden Doodle Andie.
Nicole hopes to continue to grow in her current role, grow the member base, and learn more about the different roles and responsibilities at RMAI.
“It is fulfilling to work with people who love what they do and are passionate about it,” said Nicole. “I would like the first thought members have when they have a question to be ‘oh, I should email Nicole.’”
