On February 26, DBA International hosted a live Symposium in New York City with representatives from the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS), the New York State Office of Court Administration (OCA), and the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA). The Symposium was designed to help companies prepare to implement not only the new DFS requirements but also the new litigation requirements adopted by the New York State Office of Court Administration (OCA), in conjunction with New York City’s existing debt collection mandates.

This well attended and highly interactive event featured presentations from Joy Feigenbaum, DFS Executive Deputy Superintendent; Antonio Galvao, Deputy Counsel with New York State’s Office of Court Administration (OCA); and Marla Tepper, General Counsel with New York City’s Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA). The audience appreciated not only the quality of the presentations but the candidness of the discussion.

Earlier this week, the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) released their long anticipated FAQs on their new debt collection regulations which are set to begin March 3, 2015.

DBA International will continue its ongoing dialogue with DFS, OCA and DCA as well as monitor the recently enacted rules to provide guidance as appropriate to our members.
