From journalism to social media, Communications & Administrative Coordinator, Aurora Sain likes to stay connected.
As the newest employee of RMAI, Aurora started in July 2022 and dove headfirst into everything receivables management.
Her main responsibility is developing, scheduling, posting, and interacting on RMAI’s three social media channels: LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter. Additionally, she prepares monthly analytic reports for RMAI’s digital platforms and communications, regularly reviews the website to make updates and beautification, and helps in other departments when needed.
“Aurora is definitely upping RMAI’s social media game by increasing the number of followers and the frequency of engagement,” said Deputy Director Penny Cunha. “She brings the same enthusiasm for RMAI’s social media and website to collecting insurance certificates, processing membership applications, handling other duties as assigned, as well as taking the initiative to decorate the RMAI office for holidays and birthdays.”
Prior to RMAI, Aurora worked as a payroll analyst for a workers’ compensation company handling payroll for 350 employees in all 50 states.
She graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a degree in journalism and a minor in political science with an emphasis of public administration and public policy.
After college, Aurora worked for several newspapers across Nevada, California, and Texas covering everything from presidential elections, hometown heroes, and local businesses.
While she enjoyed her move into payroll, she was happy to find a job in communications that allowed her to get back to her roots.
“I missed writing and being able to be creative,” said Aurora. “I was happy to find a role that allowed me to do something that I enjoyed.”
Another big thing that drew Aurora to RMAI was company culture.
“I wanted to work somewhere where people enjoyed where they work,” she said. “I love that all of my coworkers at RMAI dress up with me for holidays and embrace the many photos I want to take.”
One of her favorite parts of her job at RMAI is being able to interact with members on social media and the ongoing website.
Aurora also said she likes to work with the various committees to come up with social media ideas, like the PR & Marketing Committee which helped draft a series of posts that explain the RMAI Receivables Management Certification Program, and the DEI Task Force which develops a series of posts for cultural/heritage month observances.
“I hope that as the year goes on more committees will want their work or ideas featured on social media,” she said. “We have potential for so much quality content.”
In her free time, Aurora likes to hang out with her husband, Jordan and her 19-month-old son, Fawkes. She is also a huge Harry Potter fanatic (hence the spelling of her son’s name).
Aurora is looking forward to a great year with RMAI in 2023, continuing to learn more about the industry and growing the social media presence.
“It makes my job more fun when I get to interact with members on social media,” she said. “I love when people comment or repost things and ask questions.”
