Are you passionate about shaping the future of the receivables management industry? RMAI is now accepting candidates for the 2025 board of directors. Serving on the board offers a unique opportunity to drive strategic initiatives, represent our members’ interests, and influence the direction of your association.
RMAI is seeking qualified candidates who wish to run for a two-year term on the Board of Directors. In 2025, there will be three (3) open Director seats on the 10-member Board: two (2) certified debt-buyer seats and one (1) certified third-party collection agency seat. RMAI-certified members will vote to fill the seats during the association’s annual election, which opens with email voting in January and closes on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Annual Conference. Qualified individuals who wish to run must declare their candidacy no later than December 2, 2024.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
Individuals interested in running for the Director position must meet the following qualifications pursuant to the RMAI Bylaws:
Directors must:
- Be an officer, director, or owner of five percent (5%) or greater interest of a Certified Member in good standing.
- Have four (4) years of experience in the purchase, management, or collection of receivables.
- Have purchased a receivables portfolio in the prior year (for debt buying members) or collected on a portfolio of accounts (for third-party collection agency members) in the prior year.
- Have attended the RMAI Annual Conference in the calendar year preceding their election.
- Hold the “Certified Receivables Compliance Professional” designation through the Receivables Management Certification Program.
- Currently be serving on a committee established pursuant to section 5.14, a special committee or task force designated by the President, or on the Certification Council or one of its committees established pursuant to section 7.1.
- Not be serving on the board of directors of another national collection-related trade association.
ELECTION TIMELINE
December 2, 2024: The deadline for members interested in running for the Board to declare their candidacy. To submit your name for a Director position, please send the following materials to Mike Becker, Executive Director, 1050 Fulton Avenue, Suite 120, Sacramento, CA 95825 or [email protected]:
- A letter of intent declaring your desire to be a candidate;
- A professional photo;
- A resume/bio and candidate statement not to exceed 400 words in total, which will be distributed to members with the official ballot; and
- A copy of a redacted bill of sale or a reference letter on a seller’s letterhead verifying that the member company has purchased a debt portfolio (for debt buying members) or proof of collection on a portfolio of accounts (for third-party collection agency members) in the prior year.
RMAI will hold a candidate education conference call for declared candidates in December to discuss the typical duties and responsibilities of board members.
January 2025: Ballots will be sent to eligible voting members at the beginning of January, at which time voting will begin. In addition to voting for the Director positions, eligible voting members may cast one vote to approve or not approve the 2025 slate of officers.
VOTING PROCESS
Eligible voting members may vote either by submitting a completed ballot via email ([email protected]), fax (916-482-2760), regular mail, or by voting in person at RMAI’s Annual Conference. Ballots sent to RMAI must be received by Friday, February 7, 2025 at 5:00 pm PT to be counted. A ballot box will be located in the registration lobby at the Annual Conference until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. Results are announced following the close of the election.
WHO CAN VOTE
Certified members who have renewed their 2025 membership by paying their association dues are eligible to vote during the annual election.
