LACKAWANNA, N.Y. – Orion Capital Solutions, a nationally-licensed collection agency, has been partnering with Family Promise of WNY to help support a family experiencing homelessness. The team is grateful to be able to say that the family found housing this January in the Buffalo area, and Orion’s Lackawanna office was able to furnish most of the apartment so that the family could get settled without further delay. As a family-focused company, supporting family-oriented causes is a value dear to the Orion team.
“Family is a huge part of who we are. Opportunities like this are a reminder to us of what we have and how grateful we are. Life could have turned out differently. We feel privileged to have had the chance to help this family, and it’s made an impact on us as well in terms of keeping things in perspective,” said Kristin LoVallo, HR/Compliance Director at Orion. “People can be very resilient, but life can also be very fragile. One wrong turn or tragedy can change everything. We just want to be there for people and give back where we can.”
At Orion’s Cape Coral office, the team also made a recent donation to the Children’s Network of Southwest Florida, LLC, a nonprofit organization committed to protecting children and preserving families. This will go toward the organization’s various services geared toward caring for abused, neglected, and at-risk children in the Southwest Florida area.
For families facing challenges such as job loss, eviction, abuse, mental health issues, physical disability, addiction, or a wide range of other situations, homelessness can be just a step away from becoming a sudden reality. As the last two years saw widespread pandemic-related closures, full or partial income losses, and market inflation, many family/financial situations that were already challenging became further aggravated.
While the COVID-19 stimulus and relief packages have greatly assisted many families, the emotional and mental tolls are still in many cases only beginning to reveal themselves fully. Many family crises started or peaked during the prolonged intervals of increased stress and isolation, impacting family providers and finances. With that in mind, Orion recognizes that 2022 is going to be another important year to remember neighbors in need—particularly children and other more vulnerable people groups.
