This relaxed, family-friendly gathering provides attendees the opportunity to network with other executives, converse with policymakers, and learn the latest in compliance and operations. If you were looking forward to visiting Vermont in 2020, we’re pleased to offer this unique venue again in 2021. We’re working closely with The Lodge at Spruce Peak to take all necessary health and safety precautions for a safe gathering.

Cultivate relationships built at the Annual Conference in April through executive-level networking. If you weren’t able to attend the conference in person, this is your opportunity for that face-to-face interaction we missed experiencing in 2020. Besides the results of your networking, you will take away what you learn from the education sessions covering legal, legislative, and regulatory updates and new industry trends. This year we’ve shifted our dates to run from Monday to Wednesday. Come early or stay after and bring your family and friends to enjoy the weekend in this beautiful location.

Agenda

The RMAI Executive Summit provides two and a half days (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday morning) of quality education sessions presented by leaders in the industry and networking events with top-level executives.  You will get first-hand legal, legislative, and regulatory updates and industry insights on the latest topics and trends affecting your business. If you are pursuing or renewing RMAI certification, this is a great opportunity to earn the required education credits. Please check back for more updates on speakers and course descriptions.

The first part of this session offers a look into how data privacy has evolved over the past year including the application of CCPA, migrating to a word-from-home model and the increase in cyber-attacks during the COVID crisis. The panelists will cover recent changes and how debt buyers, collection agencies and law firms have developed best practices for complying with these evolving requirements.

The second part of this session is a practical discussion about the application of technology in the receivables management industry and the associated data privacy concerns. The panelists will discuss and demonstrate data privacy best practices from a legal perspective as well as operational viewpoints in medium and small debt buyers. The session will equip attendees with some practical steps to improve their organizational and personal data security.

Fostering a Multicultural Workforce*

In today’s environment, our industry is more global than ever before. RMAI members are more engaged with colleagues from all parts of the world, whether that be inside or outside of their organization. The multicultural landscape that exists today requires leaders to not only understand and recognize the differences that are apparent but embrace the opportunity to navigate and manage them in a mutually inclusive manner. This session will highlight various cultural perspectives at work in the financial services sector and identify ways to foster an inclusive company culture that aims to address challenges while recognizing and leveraging the benefits of a multi-cultural industry.

State & Federal Legislative and Regulatory Update

COVID-19 inspired legislation has made its mark at both the state and federal levels and its impact will last long after the pandemic ends. Since February 2020, the collection industry has seen significant legislative proposals become law in CA, CO, CT, DC, MD, ME, MN, NE, NV, NY, OH, and WA with countless other bills introduced at both the state and federal levels. In addition, as an industry, we continue to anticipate the launch of Regulation F, the confirmation of a new CFPB Director, and new consumer initiatives from the Biden Administration. Come for an in-depth policy discussion on the trends we have seen, what challenges we anticipate in 2022, and how RMAI is responding.
