Member Alert: Connecticut Privacy Act Amended – Follows Montana Amendment Removing Entity-Level GLBA Exemption for Non-Banks

On June 24, 2025, Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont signed into law Senate Bill 1295, “An Act Concerning Broadband Internet, Gaming, Social Media, Online Services and Consumer Contracts.” Amendments to the Connecticut Data Privacy Act were bundled into the Act and will become effective July 1, 2026.

Member Alert: North Dakota Enacts Law Codifying GLBA Safeguards Rule

On April 11, 2025, North Dakota Governor Kelly Armstrong signed into law House Bill 1127 which is nearly identical to the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act Safeguards Rule, including the more recent amendments regarding data breach notifications.  The law will go into effect August 1, 2025.
