State & Federal Legislative & Regulatory Update

As the federal government continues to emphasize deregulation, contributing to ongoing uncertainty, state legislatures have remained highly active, with some seeking to address perceived gaps in federal oversight. While artificial intelligence, medical debt, and data privacy continue to receive the greatest legislative attention, substantial advocacy efforts in 2026 were devoted to issues involving coerced debt, garnishment, licensure, and litigation-related legislation. Join us for an overview of the state laws that were adopted, the policy issues the industry continues to face, and how the federal and state dynamics are influencing the future.
