RMAI is pleased to welcome Mike Becker as RMAI’s new Executive Director, who officially began the role on May 1, 2024. Mike has extensive experience as a trade association Executive Director, and years of experience in political affairs and legislative advocacy work in Washington, D.C. RMAI welcomes Mike to the next chapter of the association, building upon the strong foundation RMAI has established throughout the years.

After graduating from George Mason University with a degree in Government and International Politics, Mike spent some time working on Capitol Hill before moving over to association work. In 2004, he joined the congressional relations team of the Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA), an organization representing manufacturers of nonprescription medications. In 2007, Mike went to the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents, where he spent the last 11 years as Executive Vice President & CEO.

“I’ve dedicated my career to advocating for different business interests, ensuring their representation in Washington and state capitals nationwide. I’m excited to continue this important endeavor on behalf of RMAI members, amplifying their voices and advancing their goals,” said Mike.

The search for a new Executive Director came after current Executive Director Jan Stieger announced her retirement after 13 years. The succession team formed in 2023 worked diligently to ensure a seamless transition. Through Jan’s leadership, the association became a more viable, trustworthy, and respected organization. Jan has been instrumental in forming and strengthening coalitions not only among industry participants, but among state, federal, and legislative bodies.  What she has done for the association does not end with her retirement, but will resonate as RMAI continues to build on the initiatives and visions Jan helped create.

Mike said he is excited to dive in and connect with RMAI members, with the goal that they find him accessible and resourceful. He will continue to reside in Washington D.C., making it easier to be close to the action on Capitol Hill.

“I’m thrilled to be joining such a strong, effective team that is committed to the success of its members and the promotion of their essential role in the credit ecosystem,” said Mike.
