In This Update

RMAI had a wonderful event kicking-off the year in Las Vegas last week – we loved seeing more than 1,450 attendees and 53 sponsors at our 2024 Annual Conference! We held 25 education sessions and 21 networking events, including our Tailgate Party Wednesday night.  We had so many exhibitors this year they spilled out from the hall into the atrium, with 97 booths in all.

RMAI held our annual business meeting, where we introduced our new Executive Director, Mike Becker, who comes to RMAI from the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents. We also presented our annual awards, recognizing leaders in the receivables management industry. The RMAI Board of Directors awarded the Bud Reitzel Lifetime Commitment Award, the industry’s highest recognition, to Vincent Iacono, President/CEO of TRAKAmerica; the President’s Award to David Reid, General Counsel for RMAI; and the Integrity Award to Don Maurice, a partner at Maurice Wutscher, LLP.

We look forward to seeing you at our 2024 Executive Summit at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya in Santa Ana Pueblo, NM, August 6-8, 2024. Join us for next year’s 2025 Annual Conference at the Aria in Las Vegas, February 10-13, 2025.

Read on for Legislative Fund and Certification updates. Federal, State, Court Case, Education, and Membership updates will return next month.

RMAI and BBB National Programs Announce New Accountability Service to Enhance the Receivables Management Certification Program
The RMAI and BBB National Programs announced during the 2024 Annual Conference that, effective March 1, 2024, BBB National Programs will independently administer the Remediation Committee for RMAI’s Receivables Management Certification Program (RMCP). The RMCP is RMAI’s flagship industry self-regulatory program that provides enhanced consumer protections through rigorous and uniform industry standards of best practices. The RMAI Remediation Committee is responsible for the administration of all corrective remedial actions and discipline associated with the certification program. The certification program was launched in 2013, and currently certifies 494 businesses and individuals within the receivables management industry.
